Where can I find a short tutorial on creating javascript menus with css?

I'm looking for a tutorial on how to create a navigation menu. This navigation menu should pop out submenus in a different color. I tried adjusting a css file I found online that worked in conjunction with "hover.htc" but I would like to see a tutorial that explains everything
